Association of sports groups of the town of Lepoglava

The association has been active in the region of Lepoglava since 1996 and today it comprises  six sports associations, eleven of which are recreational and seven competitive. Lepoglava has a long tradition of football, handball, bocce , karate and especially recreational sports, which have received a number of awards including one from the Croatian Olympic Committee for their successful years-long work and promotion of recreational sports. In order to maintain a long tradition of sports in Lepoglava, the main goal of the Association is to promote active participation in recreational sports.
Together with member sports groups and clubs, the Association of sports groups of the town of Lepoglava organizes a series of major sports events including The international school of football,  “Josip Putar” Memorial Race, celebration of  the World Sport Day, Croatian festival of women’s football, sports programs for children, celebration of the International Hiking Day, winter outdoor soccer tournament, hiking and recreational manifestations as well as athletic, road and hillclimb races.

Members of the association have a large number of different sports grounds at their disposal. Within the Sports and Recreation Centre in Lepoglava there are a football field, a running track, an indoor soccer court, additional soccer fields, a handball court, a tennis courts, a bocce court, table tennis courts, a mini golf court and a playground for children.

In the premises of the House of Culture  there is Lepoglava`s fitness centre and an artificial  climbing wall, and nearby there are basketball and football courts. Lepoglava`s  elementary school has a playground and a sports hall. There are also smaller football fields in Očura, Viletinec, Čret and Ves and lighted football and basketball courts in Žarovnica, Kamenica and Donja Višnjica. For nature lovers, hikers and recreational events there is a mountain hut “Pusti duh”, which is located on Ravna Gora.
